State of the Health Care Union...

So I have this political bent, just a touch of one and tonight I decided that I should watch the health care address that President Obama gave. As usual I found myself yelling at the screen and feeling the need to express my opinion. What oh what is a girl to do? I know! Let's grab the laptop and pound out a stream of consciousness response to the speech as you watch it. Sounds fabulous? Of course it does. That said, some of this will make no sense out of context. Kind of like Dark Side of the Moon without the Wizard of Oz and yet I feel there are moments of comedy for everyone and for the most part, you'll get my point. So dim the lights, grab the popcorn, and here...we...go...(just for you Elaine!)

Don't say you've fixed the economy. Don't do it! Really? You've pulled the economy back from the brink? Tell that to the nearly 35 million out of work Americans. Or people like me, who have a doctorate, but have a job that pays nine bucks an hour. You know every time Obama tries to identify with us poor middle class Americans, he sounds so damn condescending. Stop trying! you are RICH!!! You freaking went to law school at Harvard. Don't be frontin, man.

I just love seeing Congressmen hooting and hollering like it's a kegger at the homecoming football game, don't you? You all just wish you were still young! Looks like Pelosi wants to dress like Hilary...Well, stop looking so smug because trust me Madame Speaker...no one will nominate YOU for President. I do love how Biden's only job is clapping for Obama's points and he still only claps after half of Congress has already started. At least he color coordinated his wardrobe. He got to be the blue in the patriotic attire on the podium. Must be the highlight of his day.

Wait, you don't want to pay for someone else's medical care? That's what a public option would be, genius! Our deficit was certainly caused by more than a health care problem, like say your numerous stimulus packages. But if you call them facts, Mr. President well then I'm sure they are, just by saying it. All these people in the "discussion" for health care reform and yet no one has talked to the insurance companies, you know the people used to dealing with the bottom line, but I'm sure we aren't too worried about the "details" of the system. Ok, how can you provide more coverage and yet reduce the costs for everyone, including the government? No denial for pre-existing conditions. Who's picking up the tab for that? No cap on coverage for the year or your life...again WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS????

OMG if you call anyone with a dissenting viewpoint, someone just playing games one more time, I swear I will dedicate every moment of my life to defeating you in three years Mr. President. QUIT INSULTING MY INTELLIGENCE!!!!! Yeah I disagree with you because of "bad information". Heaven forbid I actually understand the bill and have decided for myself that I don't agree with you. HOW? HOW? HOW? It's nice to say these wonderful things, but HOW are you going to do these things? Have you thought beyond the pretty speech Mr. President?

Yeah McCain...you and the President agree...do you still wonder why you couldn't successfully court the republican vote? What???!!! Now you are REQUIRING me to have health insurance? Get out of my business big government! And I guess I will be losing my job because my preschool will now be required to provide us health care insurance, which I KNOW they can't afford or they would actually be offering it. How is it a choice if you are requiring me to do it? I don't feel as if that is much of a choice.

How is it possible that a man who is so bright cannot understand that once you offer a free/cheap ass option for health care, everyone is going to jump on that ship even if it is not required? Why would you pay for something when you can get it for FREE???

Oh there we go, jump on your favorite bandwagon...I think Bush is going to be taking for the blame for everything that ever goes wrong with Obama's whole administration. Wait if you're funding the plan with fees on high insurance plans and yet you want them to lower their fees, then where will the money come from? Really the Dems are BOOING malpractice reform??? Oh sure, let's justify health care reform by pointing the finger at Bush...AGAIN. HAHAHA no one clapped for reducing the deficit. Classic. It is almost disgusting to see the President capitalizing on Ted Kennedy's death to motivate or guilt people into believing in this plan of his. I still believe that if you all just get in line with my plan, it will all be ok. Whatever Mr. President. I just don't buy your line of bull. Sell it to someone else.

And please, please PLEASE could the Republican response for once be delivered by someone with a hint of a personality? Nope. They didn't consult me. I would have had a proposal all ready, walked up the podium and said, "You wanted a viable option Mr. President, well here it is. Read and respond. We're serious about reforming health care without creating socialism. Thank you." Tell me that wouldn't have gotten more approval than falling to asleep to Dr. Whatshisname. Yawn. Once again we dropped the ball Republicans.

So there's my rant. Hate it. Love it. I don't care. Just promise me you'll talk to your doctor, your nurse, read the bill proposed by Congress, get the facts yourself and don't just blindly trust that everything the President or your respresentative says is true. Question everything. Trust no one. Believe in American independence!
